Harddrive - harddive not listed in bios screen (common problem is Configuration of slave and master jumpers) but can indicate a hardware problem if this problem is so bad we will refer you to a data recover lab who can remove the storage disks and fit them to different hardware.
other storage media - if other storage media is not listed on data recovery ( most flash drive and memory cards are not listed in bios as they are classed as removal devices)we will use third party software to look at the storage media partition's and look for bad sectors and try a repair

bad sectors

A bad sector on a storage device is a sector on a Harddrive , flash Drive or memory card that cannot be used due to permanent damage or the operating system is inability to successfully access. (sometimes by mistake)

Bad Sector are usually detected by a disk utility software such as CHKDSK on windows operating systems . When found, these programs may mark the sectors unusable. Most storage media over time as a problem with bad sectors .

We use bad sector recovery were possible as NTFS/FATS file system is stored on the first part of the storage media and will make the storage media more readable and recoverable for data recovery.
